Hey y’all! This post has been on my mind for a while but I am just now able to post it after focusing on Valentine’s Day content these past few weeks. I knew when 2019 was approaching I wanted to change my lifestyle up a bit. After reflecting on what I did in 2018, I realized that I had some things I wanted to improve on to better my life. I picked a few healthy habits that I wanted to develop and stick with. These habits have been amazing for my health and state of mind and I hope to continue keeping up with them.
Healthy Habit #1: Making My Bed Every Morning
You know what they say…. “You made your bed, now lay in it.” In this case, however, making my bed is a positive thing! Though, the sad part is, I have to wait until the end of my day to lay in it. When I decided to form healthy habits this year, I knew making my bed would be an important one. I feel so amazing and on top of my stuff when I make my bed in the mornings. Plus, it makes my room look so clean and cozy which helps me love it even more. I ended up buying a new comforter before I decided to form this habit, but I was too afraid to use it. I made a deal with myself that if I made my bed every day I could use my new comforter. It totally helped! I will not lie, I miss some mornings when I wake up late but for the most part, I now make my bed every day!
Healthy Habit #2: Get Moving
This healthy habit is a tough one y’all! Sometimes I have so much energy and love feeling inspired and exercising. Endorphins and all that good stuff are so real people and I truly feel amazing after I exercise. I also have days where all I want to do is stay in bed and not move which is no good for me at all. I forced myself a few times last year to work out five times a week and I would get so obsessed with working out that I would stress out for hours about what workouts I was doing and when I was going to do them. This year, I decided I just wanted to get up and move every day. It does not matter what I do, I just want to make sure I am exercising in some capacity. I should be so thankful that I have a healthy body with two legs and two arms and sometimes I take it for granted. Well, not anymore! Last weekend, I hiked the Greenbelt with a dear friend and her pup and it was so much fun. We ended up going 2.5 miles and we did not even notice. It was great and I felt amazing afterward. This habit is one that I am so excited to form

Healthy Habit 3: Early Bird Gets the Worm
Y’all… I need sleep or I am one grumpy lady. I want to be an early bird but it is so tough! My schedule is a lot different than most people’s and while I am thankful for having a flexible schedule, it has wrecked my sleeping habits. Recently, I have been going to sleep whenever I felt like it and waking up to an alarm around 9:30 am. I know that is not super late to most people, but to me, it is way too late. I am now working on a healthy habit of going to sleep earlier and waking up earlier so I can be more productive with my days. It is definitely a work in progress, but it is working nonetheless.
Healthy Habit 4: Be a Planner, Use a Planner
In life, I am a planner. I plan when I am going to do something and how I am going to do something every day. Now, half the time it does not work right or I do something wrong but it is the thought that counts. This makes me sound like I have my whole life together, um FALSE. I definitely try my best though. As y’all know from this post, I was invited to visit the Erin Condren store in Austin and they gifted me with a planner for 2019. I take that bad boy EVERYWHERE! So far, I have managed to plan every week and mostly get everything done that I need to do. Now, does this keep me from being late to things every now and again? NOPE. Which gives me a great idea for a new healthy habit I need to start…
Healthy Habit 5: Eat the Good Stuff
Who loves queso? THIS GIRL RIGHT HERE! Who loves pizza? Still this girl right here! Who loves all the stuff that is bad for you? Winner winner chicken dinner it’s me! Well, I may love all of the bad foods, but I am starting to love all of the good foods too. I recently became OBSESSED with kale. I also discovered brussel sprouts and hey they are pretty good too! I am slowly but surely working on planning my meals and mostly eating things that are good for me. I am focusing on making smart choices about what I eat and eating lots of good for me foods. Pinterest has become my bff for this journey. There are tons of healthy options on Pinterest and it is super easy to find them! Does this mean I have given up all of those bad foods I mentioned earlier? UM, no. I had pizza for dinner last Friday! #NoRegrets This healthy habit has already taught me so much and I know it will help better me in the long-run.
What is a healthy habit that you would like to start? Do you do any of these habits already? I would love to know!
